EVE is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMORPG) that takes place approximately 20.000 years after our times in a galaxy on the far end of the universe. When you join EVE you assume the role of a freshly graduated „Capsuleer“, a relatively small group of elite spaceship pilots capable of controlling powerful spaceships on their own from within their capsules. Capsuleers are often referred to as "The immortals" due to the fact that the highly advanced capsules they are connected to from the inside, are capable of instantly dowloading their consciousness to a clone of themselves in the case of physical destruction.

Pirate: Short guide to pirating.

The pirate is the first choice of most PvPers who are new to EVE.  The idea of preying on other players for your living appeals to the "No more Mr Nice Guy" image many people have of themselves, and who can really say that they never wanted to be a pirate ?

To be a successful pirate, you first must choose another profession.  That sounds very odd, but if you start out in your newbie ship, attempting to take out CONCORD or anything that would venture into low sec space, you will only lose ships your ship, and your ISK.

Start out with agent missions or mining, build your ship without gaining a low sec rating, and chose either another way of making money, or a great player corporation who will pay you and support you as you grow in power.  If your dream is to fly solo when you get strong enough, just pick a corporation now with lots of ISK and a generous nature ( warning! which you should not take advantage of to start with, or you will never get stronger). Mining is a good option to get into a good corporation all corporations thinks about is what ? Yeas ISK profit  a agent mission hopper dont drag in that much isk however a miner does so think smart.

But if, flying with a band of pirates sounds like your idea of fun, there are plenty of pirate corporations looking to take on new members. Be careful when choosing a pirate corporation - big ones are harder to get into and may have stricter rules.

So how do you actually be a pirate? Well, you do exactly what pirates used to do a set ambushes, hang out in lowsec areas, fight each other, sometimes war with other pirate corporations and mostly, you kill other players and take their stuff.
Many pirate hang out around gates, scanning likely target and waiting for just the right ship to come through.

Get connected with the pirate network just to listen for tips.  After all, you are dealing with pirates.

Mercenary: Short guide to becoming a mercenary.
A mercenary is a hired gun, usually paid for by large corporations who want something done.  A mercenary could also be a hired guard for miners, extra hands in a full scale war.

Soldier: short guide to becoming soldier.
The last main combat choice is that of a soldier.  This is for those who want a little more structure in their combat choices, and who want to help out a particular corporation. This is a fairly straight forward choice to play - simply find a corporation, plug in and get to the level of security they feel they need as quickly as you can.

The best part about this kind of choice is that it is always needed and often in short supply, so you can pretty much write your own ISK tickets. Being a soldier does not require a lot you just need to be good at combat.
